EPISODE 116 : The Inaugural High Ball, Part 1

As I stood in my living room watching Bruce Springsteen sing in front of the Lincoln Memorial to an audience that he would only have to imagine, I was miffed by the weight of what happened today. A new U.S. President was sworn in, and our new Vice President is a black/asian woman with traditionally fresh ideas and a clean slate from which to work. So much has gone on in 1 year's time. It all kind of hit me while watching the "Boss" bring his blue collar passion to the masses.

When thinking about what I wanted to do with the first podcast of 2021, I thought immediately about how the pandemic has really changed our behaviors, our mood, and our day to day lives in general. This led me to the idea of producing the first two episodes of 2021 as an "audio happy hour". Complete with crowd/bar noise, adult beverages (not for me), and a friend to help me co-host and discuss these crazy times. Mark Riddell is along for these episodes, and I'm so glad he did this.

Things to look forward to in this episode: The Grateful Dead find 'Morning Dew', the New York Dolls sound a bit like the Modern Lovers... or vice/versa... George Jones crawls into a bottle and gets out of control, Ted Hawkins stops by the bar and runs into his old lady, Trump concedes, Carl Phillips sets up another drink, Mike Nichols, Elaine May, and Dave Bartholomew for Jax Beer, The Moving Sidewalks represent Houston Psychedelia, while Bill Ham releases a rockabilly-esque song for the Dot records label before Managing ZZ Top, Lenny Kravitz's highest priority is love, and so much more! I hope you all enjoy installment 1 of this "two-parter"...
