I was in a real groove and good mood by the time I got to this episode. I think I was in good spirits since the start of #148, but by now, I was loose and “flying the plane”, so to speak.
Lots to unpack here: We start with a set of songs designed to make you realize that you have come this far in, and might as well stay. Sly lays it down, Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs do a classic, Kim Gordon wants you to let inhibitions down and ride impulse through passion, there is also a long set dedicated to Death, Tragedy, and Loss. The “Teenage Tragedy” records of old show up to some degree here. Mark Dinning wants his teenage love to hear him, Jan Berry wound up on the wrong end of a story he once sang about, the Mamas and Papas know what it’s like when one runs into the ‘X’, we take a trip to Watts, and much, more. Thanks for listening, as always.
